Jagadhatri Puja at Jayrambati
Three-day Jagadhatri Puja festival at Jayrambati, initiated by Holy Mother Sarada Devi herself.
Holy Mother and Jagadhatri Puja
Goddess Jagadhatri (also spelled Jagaddhatri) is a manifestation of Goddess Durga, depicted as riding a lion and holding a conch, bow, arrow, and chakra. She is worshipped particularly in Bengal and is considered the sustainer of the world.
During Holy Mother's time in Jayrambati, she would organize and personally participate in the Jagadhatri Puja. She saw the Goddess as her own Divine Mother. Devotees from surrounding villages would gather, and the puja was conducted with traditional rituals, music, and communal feasting. This spirit lives on today.
Festival Celebrations
The puja follows the traditional three-day format of Sashthi (sixth), Saptami/Ashtami (seventh/eighth), and Navami/Dashami (ninth/tenth) of the bright fortnight of Kartik month.
