📄 Documents to Carry

  • Government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar / Voter Card / Passport)
  • Phone with Yatrinivas booking confirmation (email/screenshot)
  • Emergency contact numbers (written on paper, not just phone)
  • Health insurance card (if applicable)
  • Prescription details (for elderly pilgrims)
  • Small cash (₹500–2000) — carry sufficient before arrival
💡 An ATM is available just outside the Kamarpukur Math gate, within 200 metres. However, it may run out of cash during peak festivals — it is safer to withdraw in advance from Arambagh (22 km) or Kolkata.

👗 What to Wear

  • Women: Saree or salwar-kameez (preferred inside temple)
  • Men: Dhoti or pyjama-kurta (most respectful)
  • Avoid sleeveless tops, shorts, or revealing clothing
  • Comfortable walking shoes / sandals (easily removable)
  • Light shawl or dupatta (for modesty and temple dress code)
  • Hat or cap (for outdoor walking in summer)
  • Carry a thin cotton bag for shoes at temple entrance

🌸 What to Offer

  • Fresh flowers (especially red/yellow hibiscus and marigold)
  • Fruits (banana, coconut are traditional)
  • Incense sticks (agarbatti)
  • Camphor (kapoor) for aarti
  • Small donation at the temple donation box (daan patra)
  • Optional: Bel leaves for Shiva temples (Yogi's Shiva Temple etc.)
💡 Flowers and fruits are available at stalls near the temple gate. You do not need to carry them from home.

  • Sada Bonde — the famous local sweet (must try!)
  • Birkalai Jilipi — a unique local delicacy

Pilgrimage Best Practices

  • Arrive early morning (by 7 AM) for peaceful darshan
  • Visit both Kamarpukur and Jayrambati in one trip (only 3 km apart)
  • Book Yatrinivas 1–2 months in advance for festival dates
  • Carry printed emergency contacts (not just saved in phone)
  • Elderly pilgrims: use auto/toto between Kamarpukur & Jayrambati
  • Best visiting months: October to March
  • Avoid peak summer (May–June) — heat is intense
