Kamarpukur & Jayrambati – 1 Day Itinerary

D1 Kamarpukur & Jayrambati – The Sacred Circuit

Start with the morning darshan at the Ramakrishna Math. Offer flowers at the marble shrine of Sri Ramakrishna. The morning atmosphere is serene and less crowded.

Visit the sacred room where Sri Ramakrishna was born. The small preserved room has a deeply devotional atmosphere. Sit quietly for a few minutes.

See the ancient temple near where Sri Ramakrishna's mother had the divine vision. One of the most sacred spots in Kamarpukur.

Visit this much-loved Shiva temple. Young Gadadhar (Ramakrishna) was captivated by this temple in his childhood.

See the sacred pond where both Sri Ramakrishna and Holy Mother used to bathe. The Math and temple are reflected in its waters.

8:30 AM

Breakfast

Enjoy breakfast at a local dhaba near the Math. Try local Bengali breakfast — luchi with aloo curry or puri-sabzi. Budget: ₹40–80 per person.

9:30 AM

Prasad Coupon Collection

Collect your prasad coupon from the Math office. Available 9:30–11:30 AM. This ensures you get the free vegetarian lunch prasad at noon.

Explore the historic Ras Mandir — the terracotta-style mandir used during Ras festival. Also visit the Lahas' house and school where young Ramakrishna studied.

Visit Raghubir Temple (family deity) and the open-air stage where Ramakrishna's early devotional plays were performed.

11:30 AM

Buy Sada Bonde

Stop at the famous Sada Bonde sweet shops near the bazaar. This is the most famous sweet of Kamarpukur — do not leave without trying some!

12:00 PM

Prasad Lunch at Math

Collect your free vegetarian prasad at the Math. Eat mindfully — this is sacred food blessed by the divine presence of the Math.

1:30 PM

Depart for Jayrambati

Take a toto or auto from near the Math gate to Jayrambati. Journey: 3 km, 10–15 minutes, ₹30–50 per person.

Attend the afternoon darshan at Matri Mandir (opens 2:30 PM in winter, 3:00 PM in summer). Offer flowers and sit in meditation before the marble image of Holy Mother.

Visit the preserved childhood home of Holy Mother Sarada Devi. Feel her presence in the simple, lovingly maintained rooms.

See the house built by Swami Saradananda where Holy Mother gave diksha to devotees.

Walk to the river ghat where Holy Mother bathed. Sit by the peaceful river for a few minutes of contemplation.

Visit the temple of Goddess Sinhavahini — where Holy Mother is said to have received divine darshan.
